Magnificent Munich

Happy 4th of July everyone!  Make sure to enjoy all the parades, fireworks, patriotic songs and bbq’s.  It’s my second 4th of July in Europe and I miss those things, but I’m in Europe so I can’t complain.

We’ve spent the last two days in Munich, Germany and it was wonderful.  We had a private Segway tour to explore the town with an entertaining tour guild from Ireland.  Seeing six girls figure out how to work a Segway was priceless.  We were all over the place, and by the end three of us left with battle wounds.  I was fascinated by all the history our tour guide was telling us.  While on our tour we saw reconstructed parts of building from the war, Hiltler’s office, Natzi meeting places, part of the Berlin wall, surfers in a river,  waterfall, churches, and much more. We saw all sorts of things!  If anyone knows a good book on German history let me know pretty please.
Highlight:
-Climbing 360 stairs to the top of the church tower to see all the places we went on our tour.  You can even see Austria from the top.

-While on the train to Munich a worker gave us free gummy bears.  He said he loves American women.  He was in heaven talking and flirting with the girls.  He even asked for our picture to be taken.  We all laughed when he handed the camera to someone else so he could be in it too.

-While walking through town I saw a vegetable stand.  I was so excited because I’ve wanted a vegetable but we’ve never seen them.  I asked for a carrot and the man said I could have it for free.  It was free!  That’s the first vegetable I’ve had in Europe.  Well, besides the pieces of lettuce in a sandwich.
These girls are so much fun!

-Hearing the best street performer I’ve ever heard.  A man saw singing opera that was accompanied by a piano, violin, bass, flute and cello. I closed my eyes and pictured myself in the fancy opera hall in Paris.  It was beautiful!

-I wanted to do one crazy thing in Europe and I finally did it.  I was dared to run though a fountain in my clothes. When I got out it looked like I just came out of a pool.  Mission accomplished and it was all caught on video.

Low light:
-While on the Segway, there was an incident that left me with a bruise on my calf the size of the Pacific Ocean. Honestly though it’s 2” by 5” and it’s the biggest, badest bruise I’ve ever had.  I’m just glad we made it through the tour alive on the segways.  We had a little too much fun :)

-I haven’t run in three weeks because of knee problems.  Today I explored Munich by running 5 miles.  After the run my knee started to hurt again. I probably shouldn’t run anymore in Europe.  Last year running through Europe was one of my favorite things.  Maybe I should invest in a Segway :)

Distance walked:
Part of the Berlin Wall
21.85 (Don’t worry that’s for two days)
Opera street singer

I had to take a picture of a cute
little German man.  He's so tiny.

Proof that I did one crazy thing.  I was completely soaked.
View from the church tower taken by yours truly

Told you it was big.  It makes me happy that
it's heart shaped.

Surfing in Munich.  So random.

  2. haha, you're funny. You know me so well. It's ridiculous how much fun we're having here. I can't even describe how much I LOVE it here. Can't wait to talk about my trip in person.
